DAN JOHNSTONE - joint manager

Dan Johnstone was one of the original players for the Plough three seasons ago when the club was formed and he has been a focal point of the club ever since.

Having been the club treasurer for the three seasons, Dan has put a lot of hard work into making the club run smoothly over the years and has finally got his reward when he was appointed joint manager for this season.

Dan has supplied the club with many of its high moments through the seasons. Who could forget when he scored his first ever competitive goal for the club away against Houghton Park. Having found the net from less than 6 yards, he immediately dropped his shorts and paraded around the pitch wearing nothing but a leopard skin thong! He was fortunate enough to only get booked.

Although Dan has found it hard at times to get into the first team, he has never let the side down when he is asked to do a job and the thing that you can be sure of when you pick Dan is that he will always give at least 100% when it comes to effort.

There is never a dull moment when Dan is about. He is always the first person to get to any game, usually armed with a black coffee and a MacDonalds breakfast! You wouldn't believe it was Sunday morning either with him because he is always jumping about the changing rooms, kicking balls at people and normally doing all this in just his boxer shorts!

He is also one of the most injury prone people you will ever come across. Nobody can forget his brief appearance he made against Brooklands RA last season. Within seconds of coming onto the pitch, he had gone up for a header and fallen awkwardly on his shoulder and after waiting down the L&D for nearly 4 hours it was discovered that he had broken his collarbone! From the screams that he let out when he did it, you would have thought he was shot by a sniper!

Dan has never been really sure of what position he wanted to play- after he scored his goal against Houghton Park he quickly fancied himself as a bit of a striker but that idea was quickly squashed by then manager Mick Loasby. Towards the end of last season he started a few games at left midfield and put in some very encouraging performances particularly against local rivals EBE Lions.

Dan will be looking to get his ideal team sorted out before the season starts although he has expressed already that he is looking for a lot of commitment form his players this season and this will be needed if promotion is to be a likely target.
